Venur: Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Industrial Training Institute (SDM ITI), Venur, celebrated National Service Scheme (NSS) Day on September 24 on the institute campus with meaningful and inspiring activities.

The programme was presided over by Sri Vishweshwara Prasad K.R., Principal, SDM ITI, Venur. The programme commenced with a prayer by Veena and Trupthi, followed by a warm welcome address by Sri Vijith G., who welcomed the dignitaries, guests, staff members and trainees.

Dr. Ravish Padumale, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest, delivered an insightful talk on “Indian Heritage and Tulu Nadu Culture.” He highlighted the significance of Indian traditions, cultural values and the unique customs and way of life of Tulu Nadu. He encouraged the younger generation to understand and preserve their cultural heritage while actively participating in community-oriented and socially responsible activities.

Sri Mohan Krishna Paddandadka, an alumnus of the institution, was the Guest of Honour. Sharing his personal experiences, he said that joining the National Service Scheme during his academic years and actively participating in various NSS activities had transformed the direction of his life. He explained that NSS activities helped him develop discipline, leadership qualities, self-confidence and a strong sense of social responsibility.

He encouraged the present students and trainees to actively participate in NSS activities, develop their personalities and contribute meaningfully to society.

NSS volunteers and trainees of the institute actively participated in the programme. As part of the celebration, cleanliness and environmental conservation activities were also organised on the campus, promoting awareness about social responsibility and environmental protection among the trainees.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri Mohammed Safwan. The celebration was successfully conducted with the spirit of the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” emphasising selfless service, community participation and social responsibility.
